Hi, thanks for stopping by.
As previously mentioned, we retired early with the idea of travelling as much as possible when and while we could. It’s just as well, because last year (2016) I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer, metastasised in numerous parts of my body including brain! (‘Terminal’ as the medical profession told me). Not in our plans as you can well imagine!
Not being a conventional woman, I’ve chosen to go for alternative therapies although I did have some initial ‘Palliative’ radiation. My treatments of choice are: Medicinal Cannabis (which is now legal in the state of New South Wales (NSW) Australia), Essiac, an Alkaline diet, L-Glutamine, Super Barley Green, Vitamin C and Slippery Elm.
It’s early days yet, but I have a good appetite, I’m not nauseous and I can function most days (if my MC dosage is right 😜). My pain management is mostly Paracetamol and / or Panadine), So, so far, so good!
Naturally our travelling has come to a grinding halt but I’m very hopeful that with time, I’ll be well enough to resume my life where it left off.
While there aren’t many recent posts of late, I’m sure you’ll be able to find some new location to you.
I would love to hear your comments on anything here. Have a great day and enjoy the present!
Take care and thank you for visiting! 😊

Hi, I’m Sonia, thanks for stopping by.
So, a few years back we were retrenched and thought, ‘What the hell, let’s retire early and travel while we are fit and able’ and that’s what we’ve been doing ever since!
Last year (2015) we did a big seven months trip in our caravan around Australia. I loved our amazing country!
We’ve also visited Germany, Austria, Russia, The Netherlands, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, New Zealand, Spain, France, Italy, Canada, Hawaii, Greece, Turkey, Malta and Bali. This year we have a couple of overseas trips planned, so you’ll get to hear about them too.
I love having reached the stage in my life that some call middle age or Senior. For me, it feels as if my life is just beginning. One thing I’ve found since retiring; I don’t know how I found time to work!
The aim of this blog is to show you places of interest that we’ve visited or came across. You might have visited the same locations yourself, but you know, there are so many variables; seasons, sunny days, festivities, floods, cloudy days and draughts to name a few. ‘Same, same but different’ if you know what I mean 🙂
My passion has been for many, many years landscape photography so it made sense to marry travel and photography and create this Blog!
I normally do just two posts a week, one on Wednesdays as a Hump Day Post and the Weekly Photo Challenge over the weekend by way of sharing my travels with you. As most of us are time poor, I keep writing to a minimum and give you links to locations where possible – if you’re interested, otherwise, enjoy the visuals!
Anyway, I hope you find something of interest in my Blog and if you do, please feel free to share your thoughts 🙂
Take care and thank you for stopping by 😊

Haha! I love this! “One thing I’ve found since retiring; I don’t know how I found time to work!” Friends always ask me if I get bored, because I stopped working when I was 35, (I wanted freedom. To travel, to study, to do nothing, as long as I was free), and well…you know the answer to that, don’t you? 😀

Hi
As soon as I saw the name of this blog I loved it before even reading it. You guys sure have taken full advantage as we hope to. What did you guys do before your retired and what allwoed you to retire early?
In a few months, my wife Diane and I are trying early retirement due to an unexpected layoff from my crappy job exactly one year ago. We’re headed to Southeast Asia as soon as I reach the magical 50th birthday, the age when the financial requirements for the Malaysian retirement program become reasonable. Since we’re both kind of young,(Diane is 43) we chose an overseas destination because it’s more affordable.
We love travel, want to immerse in other cultures and always had intentions of retiring young enough to experience the world while still young and fit enough to really enjoy it. With no kids and a 30 years wasted in a cubicle working the financial services industry, we saved and invested a nice chunk of change.(Diane is a Registered Nurse and salaries are good here in California).
I recently started my blog ahead of our upcoming move and populated it with stories of our transition to early retirement and previous travels to places we researched as retirement destinations. I’m constantly scouring through other blogs with similar topics looking for new friends, contacts, ideas and advice. I’d love it if you check us out at http://www.experimentalexpats.com. and give us a follow or share if you enjoy my writing.
We’ve never visited our intended destination (Penang) so our move is a real leap of faith. Anyway, I look forward to reading a lot more of your blog and thanks for sharing !!
Best wishes
Rob and Diane

Hi Rob & Diane, Well you guys are streets ahead of us in that you’ve retired a lot younger than us. Mr Oz was 55! That’s pretty gutsy what you’re doing selling up and shifting sight unseen! I wish you well with the transition 🙂
I’ve had a look at your blog and have reciprocated the follow as it’ll be interesting to see each other’s travels 🙂
All the best to you both!

Hi Sonia and Gary, I’m really enjoying reading about your travels. Your pics are fantastic! Have passed along news of your progress to some of those U3A people at 500 and lunch club. So glad that you are having a great time, lots of love Tee xxx P.S. our bus trip to Tambourlaine had to be postponed due to the ‘weather’ we’ve had. It is now going to be in July. I’m still going to ask them about the organic wine for you. Guess you’ve heard all about the destruction in Newy. It will be a very long time before everything is cleaned up : (

Hi Sonia
I am also retired, live in Australia, have a longstanding interest in landscape photography (also live music, wildlife and street photography) and have also visited seventeen countries since retirement (or at least I will have in two months) but we only have one destination in our lists in common and that’s Hawaii.
Some great images from Western Australia in recent posts!

I have used the canopy twice now at art fairs. It is very easy to set up (with two people), and looks very good. However something I did not know about these canopies is that they are NOT waterproof. When it rained during my first fair, the rain came right through the far0ic̷b; So bring an extra tarp along.
