The Fontana di Trevi – or Trevi Fountain as it’s called in English, is a famous 15th century fountain in Rome, Italy. It’s the largest Baroque fountain in the city and reported the most beautiful in the world! It was featured in the movie, ‘Three Coins in the Fountain‘ in 1954 and the song title by the same name was an Academy Award winner.
A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain over their right shoulder, they are ensured a return to Rome. As you can see from the photos, there’s no shortage of visitors and the money, a reported €3,000 per day, is said to go to the needy around the city. I would think there can’t be any needy left in Rome by now 🙂
We found it magnificent and I always marble at the workmanship of its time. I often feel I’m born out of time because I LOVE this architecture!

The Fontana di Trevi is one of the most stunning pieces of art in the world, and I never tire of visiting, despite the always huge crowds around it. When I get really desperate, I visit the replica one we have here in the basement of a mall. Lol… however I refrain from throwing coins in that one! 🙂
