Daily Prompt: Stranger in a Strange Land
What’s your favorite part about visiting a new place — the food? The architecture? The people watching?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us NEW.
I love EVERYTHING! Their architecture, their people, their customs and definitely the people watching.
Architecture: I marvel at the architecture that have stood the test of time. I would love to have been there when the buildings were being constructed centuries ago. When you think of the lack of tools, automation and resources they had to make the buildings with, not only were they geniuses but tradesmen in the true sense of the word. I have nothing but deep admiration and respect for our predecessors.
People: I admire countries that have held their own heritage for centuries unmoved by the influx of travellers visiting and staying in their land. I think it gives them a certain strength in their identity, a belief on who they are and the values they hold.
Food: This part, although I love it, I tread with caution. Not because I’m not curious or enjoy different cuisine, but because I’m a Coeliac!
People Watching: Just pull up a chair in a café or a bar (what ever floats your boat) sip your drink and enjoy the view. Depending on your location, you might find parents interacting with their families, friends sitting together texting someone else, (this fascinates me :), couples in conversation – I love watching their body language! There’s a myriad of activities going on and if you scan around, there’s usually one that attracts your attention.
All in all, I LOVE travelling!
